The retinoic acid receptor (RAR) is a type of nuclear receptor that can also act as a ligand-activated transcription factor. It is activated by both all-trans retinoic acid and 9-cis retinoic acid. RARs are ligand-controlled transcription factors that form heterodimers with retinoid X receptors (RXRs) to bind to retinoic acid response elements (RAREs) in the promoters of target genes, thereby regulating cell growth, survival, and metabolism.
Signosis has developed a RAR HEK293 Reporter Stable Cell Line by cotransfecting pCMV-RAR and pTA-Luc along with a pCMV-hygromycin resistance gene. The stable positive clones have been generally selected with hygromycin and functionally screened with both all-trans retinoic acid and 9-cis retinoic acid respectively. The clone with the highest induction fold has been selected and expanded for launching the RAR Reporter Stable Cell Line.
