Adipokines are secretory cytokines released by the adipose tissue. They are known to have pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory properties. Dysregulation of adipokine secretion or production, as a result of adipose tissue dysfunction, can lead to obesity-related diseases. Additionally, adipokines and their respective signaling pathways have been widely known to be associated with oncology and cancer therapeutics. To better understand and study the metabolic activity of adipokines, Signosis has developed the Adipokine ELISA Strip. This assay tests for the presence of various obesity-related adipokines including adiponectin, IL-8, MCP-1, IL-6, TNFα, resistin, VEGF, and leptin.
