CREB EMSA (Electrophoretic-Mobility Shift Assay) kit is used for monitoring CREB (cAMP response element-binding protein) DNA binding activities and activation. CREB is a cellular transcription factor. It binds to certain DNA sequences called cAMP response elements (CRE), thereby increasing or decreasing the transcription of the downstream genes. Upon activation, CREB can recognize and interact with the unique DNA binding sequence and form protein/DNA complex, which can be separated from free DNA due to the differences in their electrophoretic mobility in native (non-denaturing) polyacrylamide gels.
